Valorant patch 4.09 just dropped with a bunch of nerfs for Chamber as well as some changes for Fade. Chamber is one of the few agents that is capable of controlling an entire zone by himself and Riot Games was not happy with the spot he was in. They wanted to tone down his power level which is why the agent received some significant nerfs in the new patch.

Chamber’s “Trademark” Hit With Heavy Nerfs

Chamber’s Trademark outperforms other Sentinel tools in both reliability and power, which feels inappropriate given the amount of defensive combat tools Chamber has spread across the rest of his kit. Chamber’s identity is defined by his unique weapons and defensive combat mobility, which is why Riot is decreasing his level of global flank protection/information and increasing counterplay on a single premium trap.

The Balance Changes Want to Define What Sentinels Do

Sentinels and Sentinel players should have many options and methods to control and defend, whether it’s through the use of Sage’s reactive slow abilities, Cypher’s flank-watching gadgets, or defensively-oriented combat and guns like Chamber. It’s important to carve out sharp strengths and weaknesses for Chamber in the roster. If you take him for his weapon arsenal and disengage, you should feel as if you’re giving up a strength—like traps or stall—that his peers excel at.

Fade Receives Visual Changes

Unlike Chamber, all of the changes affecting Fade are visual in nature. The new agent is still finding her place in the meta and Riot Games is not changing any part of her kit just yet. You should now see a decreased amount of flickering textures on diagonal walls when casting Fade’s ultimate. Riot has also added VFX for additional clarity and visual impact. There are also some Seize’s VFX changes to make Fade’s orbs look more dynamic in the Agent Select screen.

There are also a number of bug fixes including one for where an unintended ‘use’ input could happen after abilities such as Skye’s Trailblazer or Sova’s Owl Drone is activated while using the ‘use’ key.

It will be interesting to see how the Chamber changes affect the current meta. He was one of the go-to agents after the nerf of Jett and Sova in recent patches.
